The Isler HCA is located between Tarban Creek and Looking Glass Point, as shown as it was in 1835 when surveyed for the construction of the Tarban Creek Lunatic Asylum, Later Gladesville Psychiatric Hospital. [SRNSW, Surveyor’s Sketchbooks, Vol. 6, f. 21.]

The object of this Heritage Impact Statement was to assess the impact of proposed alterations and additions on the heritage qualities of Hunters Hill Heritage Conservation Area 2: The Isler and on No. 20 Sunnyside Street, Gladesville as a contributory item to the HCA.


The client wished to restore the front façade and roof in addition to constructing a single storey contemporary addition to the rear, below the ridgeline.
