2019 4 Windeyer Ave, Gladesville - Heritage Impact Statement 4 Windeyer Avenue, Gladesville as of 2019 [SRA]. LocalSydney - NorthernHeritage Assessment Authors: Dr Sue Rosen and Liz Gorman Client: M. Barnes & S. Conacher The objective of this heritage impact statement was to assess the heritage impact of the demolition of the existing residence at No. 4 Windeyer Avenue, Gladesville, and the construction of a contemporary double storey brick veneer residence. The existing building is a post war brick and tile Housing Commission bungalow that was constructed in the 1950s. The house is fairly intact, retaining its original form. Windeyer Avenue is set within a 1950s Housing Commission subdivision (Housing Commission Project No. 1237). The houses are setback from the street boundary behind a uniform building line. The roof forms are generally hipped and tiled. While elements of the original housing stock are clearly evident and interpretable as Housing Commission constructions, many have been heavily altered and extended. Some original houses have been demolished and replaced with large one and two storied residences. There are extremes in terms of bulk and scale evident in the streetscape.
