Sue Rosen Associates were pleased to provide the client with a Heritage Impact Statement (HIS) for minor, historically sympathetic internal alterations at the heritage-listed premises.
The Albion Place Hotel, (formerly Taito House / Vine House), is a very late 19th Century, four storey, ‘Commercial Free Gothic’ style building constructed of hard burnt brickwork laid in Flemish bond.
Historical evidence includes the building being listed as a single storey shop in 1901, suggesting that the ground floor may have been constructed earlier than the other floors in the period between 1890 and 1901, followed by the upper floors after 1901. The fourth floor is a twentieth century addition which incorporated existing attic roof spaces, the detailing of which indicates a construction during the Inter War period.
