This short history is a tribute to the efforts of all the volunteers involved throughout the library’s life of more than half a century. With interest and guidance from their mentors, including those in the Children’s Library and Craft Movement, the library’s voluntary committee and their auxiliary, mothers, friends, husbands and patrons, provided several generations of local children with a golden opportunity: an invitation to read and to grow to love reading. This history was researched and written by the members of the Library Sub-Group of the Beecroft/Cheltenham History Group, who felt that the history of the library was an important twentieth century story that might be lost to the future without their intervention.
