This Heritage Assessment report details the history of the study area and provides management guidelines which address Sydney Water's legal obligations in respect of the European and Aboriginal heritage sites located within the study area and asociated with the proposed amplification options. Pheasants Nest Weir and the Nepean Tunnel were constructed in the 1880's as part of the Upper Nepean Scheme to supply Sydney with water. Both structures are listed on Sydney Water's Engineering Heritage Register as part of the Upper Nepean Supply System and have beeen classfied by the National Trust. They are also listed as items of environmental heritage on the Wollondilly Local Environmental Plan.
