2018 Kalkarri Cottages, NPWS - Heritage Impact Statement View of Kalkarri Cottage from North West [SRA Site Visit 2018]. ArchitecturalEnvironmentalLocalLandscapeSydney - NorthernHeritage Assessment Author: Dr Sue Rosen Client: Sydney North Region, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Office of Environment and Heritage This one-bedroom cottage is a simple weatherboard and fibro cement (asbestos) utilitarian structure constructed in c. 1950 to accommodate staff employed at the Koala Sanctuary. It has a hipped tile roof and, originally there were sash timber windows, only some of which are extant. It is an example of ‘back of house’ incidental facilities to service the publicly accessible Sanctuary and was not part of the Park visitor experience.
