This video-oral history project was commissioned in 2000 by Advance Energy and consists of interviews with 10 men who were either employees or former employees of Advance Energy, or its predecessors. The interviewees range from linesmen, to engineers and the CEO. They all have many years of experience in electricity distribution in central and western New South Wales. The most remote interviewee was based in Cobar, others were in Gilgandra, Bathurst, Orange, Parkes and Dubbo. Some were involved in the construction of lines to remote communities. They are knowledgeable and good humoured, and provide valuable insights into the industry, but also the development and history of the areas in which they worked.
From these intervieews a video called Old linesmen never die … was produced.
