Wyong’s Royal Hotel was built on its current site in 1889. Both the Royal and the Commercial. hotels in Wyong would come to be associated with the three Gascoigne brothers: John managed the Royal, Thomas became the licensee of the Commercial, and in 1904, Robert took over the Royal. The hotel was originally built in weatherboard, being rebuilt in brick in 1919. Over the years, much development of the the Hotel has occured, including changes in its form, fabric and finishes, and removal of the verandah.
